All’interno dei vari stand ogni cantina ha modo di far assaggiare le proprie migliori etichette coadiuvata da esperti sommelier F.I.S.A.R.. Wine and Health

Excerpts from Wine Spectator – May 2009

“Each week seems to bring forward a new study on the health benefits of moderate wine consumption.  Evidence continues to mount that wine drinking goes hand in  hand

with a healthy lifestyle and is a powerful means of preventing heart disease.  In addition, there has been solid research over the past few years regarding how wine may help prevent or relieve the effects of dementia, diabetes and even osteoporosis.

Many of the recent discoveries involve a compound in wine called resveratrol (...) a polyphenol that functions as a plant’s primary defence against damage from bacteria or fungi.  Found in grape skins and red wine, resveratrol is the subject of intense study for its potential role in prolonging the human life span and in guarding against dementia, diabetes and cancer.

(...)

TENDING TO THE HEART

(...)Many studies have shown that regular and moderate consumption of red wine is associated with the greatest amount of benefits, such as better circulation and overall heart health. (...)

DELAYING DEMENTIA

Several studies have not only amassed evidence that moderate wine consumption may help delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, but are also now detailing the complicated physiological processes at play (...)

PREVENTING ARTHRITIS

Researchers in Sweden have found that drinking an average of five to 10 glasses of wine per week may cut the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by up to 50 percent compared with the risk to non-drinkers.

In addition, other studies have found that moderate wine-drinking is linked to increased bone density in elderly women, possibly lowering their risk of osteoporosis.

KEEPING THE FLU AWAY

Researchers at the University of South Carolina say that a chemical found abundantly in red wine, apples and onions helps protect against influenza (...)  the chemical, a polyphenol called quercetin, is a known anti-inflammatory (...) researchers speculate that the compound may block the ability of the influenza virus to replicate itself.

LOWERING DIABETES RISK

(...)Researchers speculate that alcohol consumption, and red wine specifically,  might help regulate insulin sensitivity and blood glucose levels by slowing the passage of glucose through the digestive tract.  Those diagnosed with diabetes may benefit from wine as well-the risk of coronary heart disease was up to 55 percent lower in studies for diabetics who drank in moderation.

Veronelli 2009

APRIL 2009

WE ARE VERY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR OUR WINES HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE “GUIDA ORO I VINI DI VERONELLI 2009”.  Indomito was given the red clover sign, which is only granted to new wines that are good to excellent, with 87 points.  Crescendo was given 86 points.  Canto della Civetta/Hooting Owl was given 87 points, as was Corpo Notte, which was also included in the “I VINI DI VERONELLI PER SPENDERE BENE”.

from Belgium

"As a matter of fact I am drinking your wine just now and want to share my pleasure in French with you

IGP Toscano

-OUR EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL IS NOW AN “I.G.P. TOSCANO”.  (Indicazione Geografica Protetta)    This is a recognition of the highest quality, given by the Tuscan region after several quality-control tests.

Also, we now press the olives early in the morning to obtain a perfectly cold-pressed oil.  The result is an even fruitier, aromatic, slightly peppery oil

Consultants and Staff

-          Alberto Antonini  has given us the great joy of accepting to work with us.  He has been our oenologist since January 2008.  Tasting one of his superb wines it became clear to us that we wanted to work with him.  Then we read about him, his international work, his approach to wines - combining tradition and creativity- and the fact that, like us, he also believes that wines are first of all created in the vineyard.  That he accepted and was enthusiastic about producing a top-quality wine in a new viticulture area has given us new energy.  Our 2008 wines will be the first to be made totally under his surveillance, but already our 2007s will have his touch.  He is assisted by Giacomo Cesari, oenologist, and Stefano Dini, agronomist.

-          Michele Senesi, agronomist, also started working with us full-time as of January 2008, after a 6-month training period, and is managing with us our little estate.

-          We have in the meantime a good, stable, small staff that we can trust and that appreciate the standards we want to achieve.

Veronelli & Decanter

WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT ONCE AGAIN OUR WINES HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE 'GUIDA ORO VINI DI VERONELLI 2008'. OUR CORPO NOTTE 2005 WAS GIVEN 87 POINTS AND OUR CRESCENDO 2005 OBTAINED 88 POINTS. HOOTING OWL 2005 (CANTO DELLA CIVETTA) WAS GIVEN THE RED CLOVER SIGN, WHICH IS ONLY GRANTED TO NEW WINES THAT ARE GOOD TO EXCELLENT, WITH 88 POINTS.

OTHERS SPEAK OF US

DECANTER - August 2007 issue - article titled "Can Tuscany Do Value? - There are plenty of Tuscan wines under £20, says Mark O'Halleron. But our tasting showed you need to exercise caution in which you pick..."

Of 100 wines tasted our CORPO NOTTE was included in the 24 selected and recommended: "Big, spicy, tarry and oaky nose. Palate is soft with good intensity of warm, spicy fruit. Decent complexity on the finish." 3 stars.
